Sealed with the Holy Spirit : Scripture Review of Ephesians 1 (ESV Bible)

Ephesians 1:11-14 In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

What a way to absorb the true message of Jesus Christ. Look at the key words. Here, the Apostle Paul confirms something which is pivotal to understanding the truth of our salvation. What it takes is hearing, and believing in Him, in order that we will obtain salvation. The scripture is clear in revealing what we receive when we do these things. We become sealed with the Holy Spirit. Sealed. And that Spirit of the Father is the guarantee of our inherited salvation through Christ. This was purposed as part of God’s master plan from the beginning of the beginning, at the foundation of the world. This promise that we have a place with the Lord is like no other promise we could ever receive.

What else can you trust in life as much as you can trust being sealed by God Himself? To fathom such a thing is quite surreal when we come to the realization of such a holy gift that we are able to hold on to each day. No other gift can compare to the promise and the security we have through faith in Jesus Christ.

Sealed with the Holy Spirit. Think about this. Reviewing the promises of the New Testament in the words of Jesus and His followers is mind blowing when we realize our assurance of salvation. It is one thing to read the words, and quite another to really meditate on what it really means. By hearing and believing in Him, you are SEALED by the most powerful entity which is above all others in the universe, capable of more than any being that ever lived, and sovereign over all of creation. Through Him, you personally, are sealed through the Holy Spirit.

Think on this as you go through your day today. May His loving embrace awaken you and give you comfort, realizing what a precious gift you’ve received through faith in Jesus Christ, your eternal salvation.
