Jehovah’s Witnesses New World Translation Bible Versus the Christian Bibles
Many biblical scholars have uncovered several differences and translation errors in the New World Translation Bible published by Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. The textual differences may be subtle in some cases, but in other cases they change the entire meaning of the verse. For instance, a comma changing position in a sentence can alter the context. Likewise, a “soul” turns into an “inspired statement” in the NWT Bible, eliminating the option for Jehovah’s Witnesses to believe in “souls”. The well meaning JW student may even say that souls don’t appear in the Word of God, based only on knowledge obtained in their own Bible. If another Christian speaks about the “soul” mentioned in scripture, he or she may be called “a liar” who is not educated or equipped with Bible knowledge.

1 John 4:1-6 Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired statement, but test the inspired statements to see whether they originate with God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 This is how you know that the inspired statement is from God: Every inspired statement that acknowledges Jesus Christ as having come in the flesh originates with God. 3 But every inspired statement that does not acknowledge Jesus does not originate with God. Furthermore, this is the antichrist’s inspired statement that you have heard was coming, and now it is already in the world. 4 You originate with God, little children, and you have conquered them, because the one who is in union with you is greater than the one who is in union with the world. 5 They originate with the world; that is why they speak what originates with the world and the world listens to them. 6 We originate with God. Whoever comes to know God listens to us; whoever does not originate with God does not listen to us. By this we distinguish the inspired statement of truth from the inspired statement of error.
1 John 5:20 But we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us insight so that we may gain the knowledge of the one who is true. And we are in union with the one who is true, by means of his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and life everlasting.
